Retail Areas in the City of Knox

BAYSWATER

On Mountain Hwy, Safeway opened a branch. Aldi supermarket opened in 2006. Mountain High Plaza, Bayswater's newest shopping precinct has been completed on May 2009 supporting Coles supermarket, coffee shops, and variety stores. Bayswater Village is currently under redevelopment.

BORONIA

Boronia Junction, a relatively new shopping centre. Boronia Junction includes AMF bowling, Safeway, a number of restaurants and a hairdresser. There has been a cinema in Boronia for many decades and Metro cinemas opened in 2005. Boronia has many restaurants including Indian, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and Italian cuisine. The other two shopping precincts in Boronia are Boronia Village and Dorset Square (including Boronia Mall). There is also Dorset Arcade and Chandler Arcade.

FERNTREE GULLY

Mountain Gate Shopping centre lies on the corner of Ferntree Gully Rd and Burwood Highway. Its retail outlets include Safeway, Coles, bookstore, newsagency, butchers, bakeries and a variety of other stores.

ROWVILLE

Rowville’s rapid development over the years has included the construction of the Wellington Village shopping centre on Wellington Road, complementing the Rowville Lakes shopping centre on Kelletts Road. The Stud Park Shopping Centre is the largest in the suburb. It houses the Rowville branch of the Eastern Regional Library, and is adjacent to the Rowville Community Centre. In October, the Stringybark Festival is held at the centre. This popular event is organised by the Knox Council. There are three golf courses within Rowville.

SCORESBY

Caribbean Gardens is a market and is open every Wednesday and Sunday. The precinct is centered around Caribbean Lake. Activities at Caribbean Gardens include buying and selling many products, food and drink, music played by bands and computer swap meets. Another important "Caribbean" place in Scoresby is Caribbean Roller Skating Rink.

THE BASIN

There are a small number of shops and restaurants amidst a village atmosphere. Retail outlets include a licensed post office, cafés, milk bar, liquor store, greengrocer, butcher, cafés, bookstore, restaurants, hairdressing salons & fish and chips.

WANTIRNA

A Wantirna South attraction is the Knox City Shopping Centre, which is located on the left hand corner at the intersection of Stud Road and Burwood Highway. It had a major refurbishment in 2002 to make it a more popular area for young people. This area is now known as Knox O-Zone. As Melbourne's most unique entertainment and leisure precinct, Knox O-Zone is the family friendly zone where you’ll find the very best cafes, restaurants, bars, cinemas, entertainment and sports themed attractions. It is home to an international selection of restaurants that include the finest and freshest of cuisine from Japan, Italy, Greece, Thailand, China, and India. And if it’s entertainment you’re looking for, there’s the 15 screen Village Megaplex Cinema, AMF ten pin bowling, and Timezone.
